Learn Digital Photography
Just about anyone can learn digital photography. The low cost of materials for digital photography is a huge benefit when it comes to knowing what you need to know to become a great digital photographer.
There is a distinction between talent and technique. With talent it is easier to learn digital photography. Compare it to someone with natural singing ability. They do not have to be taught pitch. They have it and all they need to do is develop their voice to maximize their natural talent for pitch.
This does not mean that you need to have talent to learn digital photography. It just means that it helps to have talent. If you are not a natural photographer, then you can learn the techniques that you need to learn to make your digital photography a thing of beauty and a joy forever.
This may come as a surprise to you but the first thing you need to learn is what kind of a photographer you are. Some of this will be clear if you look at the photos you have taken. Are they nearly all of people? Perhaps your pets are the main feature in your photographs. A neighbor of mine snaps some so-so pics of her family but the photos of her garden are spectacular. She seems to have an eye for flowers and knows just the right angle to make her dahlias look larger than life.
A friend of mine had a genius for taking funny photographs of cats. It was uncanny how he could capture a cat in the midst of some amusing action. This is the same man who could not manage to take a family picture without cutting off someone’s head but he could capture a cat licking stolen ice cream from its paw without the cat even noticing her was snapping away.
This was an unusual ability and the fact is that you might not be able to learn how to have cats not notice you. This may be something about his personality and way of being or it might have been something as simple as his ability to sit, camera in hand, and wait for the right moment to appear. Then all he had to do was just take the picture.
So there it is -- lesson number one. Check the photos you take and see where your natural interests and instincts are. Now you are ready to learn more about digital photography.
